Create an SL avatar for CQUni SL Workshop

Before you can begin the SL Workshop, you will need to create an avatar with second life.

If you have explored Second Life before and already have an avatar, then you can use it for this workshop and you do not need to complete this step.  Otherwise, read on.

To create an account, visit the Orientation Station Second Life Registration Website, and choose an available name for your avatar. You can select any first name, but must choose a last name from a drop down list. Click next to see if your chosen name is available. If it’s not, choose another name. Once you have selected an available avatar name, you will be presented with the following screen.

Complete the form, and select Scholar as the Landing Zone. Make sure you use a valid email address. I recommend using your CQUni email address.  The organic check is a way to verify you are a human creating an avatar, and not an automated computer program trying to harvest multiple SL avatars for unsavoury activities.  On clicking Finish, you will be emailed your account details including a password to login to Second Life.

Once you have your avatar, you need to register it for the workshop.  Return to the email message you received for further instructions on how to do this.
